Reminder – Saturday Hike

This year we meet at 7AM and Pick-ups are at 1PM from the parking lot area on the south side of Arden Valley Road. Arden Valley Road is off Route 17, approximately 2 miles south of the Harriman Train Station. Look for the big Brown Sign that says WELCOME TO HARRIMAN STATE PARK in white letters and the smaller street sign that says Arden Valley Road. Take Arden Valley Road east for about 1/3 to ½ mile to the parking area on the south side of the road. You will pass a stone park ranger station/home to your south about 200 yds along the road and then just after crossing over Route 87 parking lot is on the south side. From this parking lot we will be departing on an approximately 2.5 mile (one way) backpacking hike (low impact hike) along the Stahahe Brook Trail. PLEASE ARRIVE AT 7:00 AM  (again for parents dropping off and picking up – PICK UP TIME IS1:00PM).

If you wish to fish please plan to have your fishing rod and secret weapon lures and all associated gear with you. I will plan to bring extra hooks, bobbers and worms for those that have limited fishing lures.

Lunch and snacks should be packed individually by scouts and leaders, bring adequate drinks about 3 – 12/16 oz drinks should be sufficient, but make sure you pack your bug repellent and sunscreen!

 PLEASE don’t forget to pack your lunch and drinks.

Saturday’s Hike & Fishing

All – Drop off for our 2.5 mile hike is Saturday Morning at 7:00AM. We will hike to the lake and fish for the day as well as other requirements. Scouts must bring their own food and drinks. You will need a lunch, snack and drinks! Pick up will be at the same location as drop off location (see below) at 1:00PM. Please eat breakfast before you arrive.

DIRECTIONS: From Route 17 enter the Arden Valley Road entrance to Harriman State Park (look for big brown sign with white letters half way between Red Apple Rest and the Harriman train station). Update

All,
     A couple of things:
  1. We will gather for a Memorial Service at St. Anastasia Harriman, NY on Monday at 10:00am in observance of Memorial Day. The Troop then marches into the village of Harriman for a POW/MIA ceremony. This is a great opportunity to show respect for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for this great Country. Please attend if your around.
  2. On Saturday May 31 we will be hiking and fishing into Harriman State Park. We will meet around 7:00am and wrap up by dinner. More details will follow Tuesday.
  3. The final chance for the early bird price for summer camp is May 31. Please bring in your check Tuesday night so you can take advantage of the price break.
  4. Our annual Rafting trip is June 13,14 and 15. Please sign up Tuesday.
  5. The final Court Of Honor/ last meeting will be at the Monroe American Legion on Lake Road on June 10 at 7:00pm. We will cook burgers and dogs. Please bring the family.

CamporAll 2014 – Final Instructions

All – Here are some items for the upcoming CamporAll 2014:
  • Address: Dutchess County Fairgrounds- 6550 Spring Brook Ave, Rhinebeck, NY 12572
  • Arrival: Please arrive as close to 6PM as possible on Friday.
  • Pick-up: Pick-up is 8AM on Sunday morning
  • Friday Dinner: Please eat before you arrive on Friday.
  • Saturday Lunch: Bring money for lunch on Saturday ( around $12)
  • Meals: We will be cooking breakfast and dinner Saturday and breakfast on Sunday.
  • Weather & Gear: Rain is expected. Please dress accordingly. Put a garbage bag over your backpack to keep things dry
  • Forms: You must have your completed medical forms as well as a copy of your insurance card. DO NOT FORGET THESE ITEMS… you will not be allowed to stay without the forms.Many of you have already handed in your forms, but some haven’t.
  • Fun:The event should be a great time, so have fun.

All: Please download the medical form and bull riding waiver if you plan on attending CamporAll 2014 next weekend.

The medical form needs to be completed by the parent or guardian, not your doctor. Please complete parts A and B and sign the bull riding waiver.

I need the forms returned completed by Tuesday at the meeting. Thanks and I will have more for you tomorrow.
