Summer Camp Update

All – We will have our pre-summer camp meeting on Tuesday July 29, 2014 at 7:00pm at the Knights of Columbus. I need every Scout to complete the medical forms (download here) and bring them to the meeting. There are 3 parts to the medical forms: A, B and C- each section MUST be completed. Your doctor must complete section B and C. Please don’t forget to get these forms completed.

We will also begin to have the Scouts look at picking their merit badge schedule. You can download the leaders guide here. Please review it. It includes a list of recommended clothes and supplies, a map and the merit badge schedule. If you look at page 191, that is Camp Ranacqua’s week 5 merit badge schedule. That is our week. Also in the guide is all the information about the merit badges. Please give this some thought. I need to hear from you if you are not going to be able to attend the meeting. Please send me an email.

See you Tuesday night.

Sincerely,

Pete Walker – Scoutmaster, Troop 540

Schunnemunk Hike

Good Evening Troop 540.

Just a reminder that we’re going to hike through the Schunnemunk trails this Sunday (July 20th). The total distance of the hike is around 6 miles.

We will be meeting at 8:20am in front of the Dunkin Donuts in Monroe. We will leave the parking lot promptly at 8:30am. Mr. Shea has the map of all of the trails. Please bring plenty of water (at least 2 liters), a sandwich and a snack. Hopefully we’ll see most of you this Sunday.

For those that still need to sign up for Ranachqua (Summer Camp), please email Mrs. Donahue.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to call me on my cell phone at (845) 480-4391. Thanks

July 4th Fundraiser

UPDATE: Troop 540, It looks like the Independence Day Festival is postponed until tomorrow.  Unfortunately, Mr. Shea will not be available to run the entire fundraiser tomorrow, as he has to work. We will need adult volunteers, as well as scouts to work separate time slots to make sure that our fundraiser is successful. Please respond back to “all”, on whether or not you can help out and what time slot you will take. If you have any questions, please call me on my cell phone at :(845) 480-4391.

===================

We are holding a July 4th Fundraiser at the Monroe Fireworks. We will > have a tent set up on Lake Street between the two ponds at Millpond. It is scheduled on Friday, July 4th from 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. with a rain date of Saturday, July 5th. We would like to know if anyone might have a generator we could borrow. I was able to rent the last popcorn machine and cotton candy machine.

We are asking for volunteers for the following shifts:
4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
8:00 – 10:00 p.m.

Please let us know if you are available to help out. We have held this fundraiser for the past few years and would greatly appreciate any help
you can offer even if you cannot stay for a 2 hour shift.

Thank you all for your continued support, It is through all of your dedication and volunteering that Troop 540 remains a great troop to be a part of.

Yours in Scouting,

Joan and Mike Shea
