Updates

Troop 540,

We wrapped up out first overnight at Wabenaki.  I hope all of the scouts worked hard to get things signed off in their books this weekend and you all had fun.

We will have our green barat 7pm to discuss how the overnight went.

We have our Court of Honor this coming Tuesday at 7:30pm.  Don’t forget that1st class or lowerbring snacks and star or above bring drinks.

We will need some volunteers to help out at our McDonald’s fundraiser on Route 17 M in Monroe (Stop & Shop Parking Lot) on Tuesday, October 14th from 5 – 8.

Basically all we need are a few boys for each shift (2-3)to greet people and bus tables and help sweep up.  Probably the older scouts could work the later shift and the younger scouts count attend the earlier shift, so they can get to the meeting.  We also need to encourage people to eat at McDonald’s that night.  We could also bring signs thanking customers for supporting our troop.

Sincerely,

Jon Hess – Scoutmaster, Troop 540

Overnight Checklist

Troop 540,

This email is especially important for the new scouts that will be joining us. I hope you’re all excited for your first camping trip of the season. Griffin has put together the itinerary. Plan on doing some work from your scout books and also plan on having a lot of fun! Griffin will not be there until Saturday. So, tomorrow night, plan on working on some rank requirements for the younger scouts. PLEASE bring your scout books.

We will be camping right by the lake. So, bring your fishing poles and tackle. Also, there’s a basketball court, so bring a basketball if you have one.

The camp director has asked us to move some plywood for him. So on Saturday, we will need all the scouts to help out with that. You will be able to add some time to your books for community service.

Plan on eating before you get to the camp site tomorrow. We’ll have snacks at night and the scouts will be preparing the meals for the rest of the trip.

See you all tomorrow night at 6:00pm.

Here’s the address again:

Camp Wabenaki
228 Wabenaki Road
Southfields, NY

I have put together a checklist of important items and optional items to bring with you.

  • Socks
  • Underwear

Anthony’s Fundraiser

Hi Everyone.

I really need to get a head count to determine if it is possible to do the fundraiser at Manza’s Farm on Rt. 211 in Middletown on Sunday, October 5.

The following people have volunteered to assist:

8:30-11:30am

  • Adult Leader: Mr. Paul Phelan
  • Brandon Nebiker
  • Brian Phelan

11:00am – 2:00pm

  • Adult Leader: Mr. Tom Soder
  • Dylan Soder

1:30-4:30pm

  • ??

Please let me know immediately if you are able to assist me with this fundraiser as I really need to determine if it is even possible to do this. We need a minimum of 6 scouts and 2 adults for each shift.

As I stated in my earlier email, if this works out this could be a very profitable fundraising opportunity for the troop since this is an annual event and they split the parking fees ($5.00 per car) 50/50 with the troop.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Anthony Linsalato
