We are all set for our camping trip in the Paden cabin at Bullowa this weekend.  Here is a link to the  map of the camp:

We will focus on requirements for this trip.  If any of the scouts have a game or sport that they would like to do this weekend, bring your stuff on the trip.  We will meet at the camp at 6:30pm on Friday.  Please have dinner before you come.  We will cook all three meals on Saturday and have a light breakfast on Sunday.  Please plan to pick up your scouts on Sunday morning at 8:00am SHARP as I have to get the trailer back to Sacred Heart and get to a soccer practice at MWHS by 10:30am.

Please bring snow gear; especially water proof boots and extra socks.

See you all on Friday!

Thanks,

Jon Hess – Scoutmaster, Troop 540

Meeting Tonight

Troop 540,

We have a meeting at North Main tonight.  Green bar starts at 7:00pm.  Sam, if you plan on attending, please be ready to update the green bar on your drawings for the trailer.

Jon Hess – Scoutmaster Troop 540

Last Call

Troop 540,

Please let me know by 8:00pm tonight if anyone would be able to help out the troop and volunteer to be a second adult for the camping trip this weekend.  You would only need to show up on Saturday around 6pm and stay until Sunday by 8:00am.

It’s important for the scouts that are looking to get two nights in a tent for the camping merit badge.  One of the requirements is to have a total of twenty nights in a tent.  The next two camping trips are going to be in cabins and they do not qualify for this requirement.

Again, please let me know by 8:00pm tonight, if anyone can cover.

Thanks,

Jon

Monroe Knights of Columbus Christmas Bazaar 2014 – 11/22

Troop 540,

Here are the details (SEE BELOW) of the Knights of Columbus Christmas Bazaar that will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at the K of C. According to Mrs. Donahue, we will have the wreaths available to sell this day. I know that we have a camping trip that weekend but I’d like to have some scouts volunteer to sell wreaths at this bazaar.

If you have any questions, please call me on my cell phone: (845) 480-4391.

Sincerely,

Jon Hess – Scoutmaster, Troop 540

Hello All!

Thank you for registering for the Knights of Columbus Monroe Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, November 22nd. The venue is full with 12 vendors. Advertisements have been made through The Photo News, Marketplace, Times Herald Record, Face Book, Craig’s List, church bulletins, fliers in local businesses and our council web site (kofc2079.catholicweb.com).

You can begin unload/setup at 10:30am. The bazaar will be held from 12:00-5:00pm at the Knights of Columbus, 90 Carpenter Place, Monroe, NY.

I am working out the final details of the floor plan. Let me know if you will need electricity so that I can be sure your display is near an outside wall and power source so that extension cords do not cross walkways. (Origami Owl is one, but I thought there was one other in need of electricity)

It is requested that each vendor provide a small gift as a contribution to the Tricky Tray. It can be provided during event setup in either an envelope for gift certificates or gift bag.

Our Christmas Toy Drive has also started this past week, so if you are interested, you may leave an unwrapped toy for a 3-12 year old child in our collection box. If any of you are aware of anyone looking for a place to donate toys, please put them in contact with me. The toys are given to needy families in the Monroe, Chester and Goshen area.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Reminders

Troop 540,

The VFW needs volunteers to help out at their breakfast being held by the VFW Ladies Aux. 8858. This will be held from 8:30-11:30am at St. Anastasia Church in Harriman, in the Cardinal O’Connor Room on Sunday, November 2nd. If you are able to make this, please email Mrs. Lamarch and let her know. I have copied her to this email to make it easier to reply to her.

The other reminder is for the Carousel cake fundraiser. I have the order sheets from Mrs. Donahue. You can down the forms here and here. The order forms are due by Tuesday, November 11th. Please return them to Mrs. Donahue. Each scout will need to sell at least three cakes or pies. The money raised for this will go to troop related activities. A percentage of this will also go into each scout’s account. This will be applied to the scout camping trips and other related activities that the troop does throughout the year. If the scout doesn’t help to earn the money in the fundraisers, then the families will be charged for the activities that he participates in throughout the scout year.

Lastly, if you brought home a tent from the last camping trip and you haven’t handed it in yet, please do so at the next meeting.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Jon Hess – Scoutmaster, Troop 540
